The ultimate party weekend!

Whew, busy, fun weekend! We started off at the pool on the 4th. We love our neighborhood pool. It's definitely no country club-which is why we like it so much. I think Georgia's mom put it nicely when she said that it was like a step back into the 50's. Tons of kids and families, a community fridge with beer and use of the microwave and stove. Around 2:30 the ice-cream truck pulls up and the pool empties to sounds of "Ice-cream man! Ice-cream man!"

4th of July was no disappointment. We walked up the street to watch the costume parade make its way to the pool. We saw colonial men and women, American sports teams, Bicentennial Princesses,Uncle Sam and Batman. I think anything goes. We even ran into a good friend who had broken her leg (at a self-defense class) and got into the spirit by placing flags in her "boot".

We made our way to the pool to show daddy what we've been practicing every day. Here's a picture post-dunk. I must say, Henry did not hate it. Didn't love it, but also didn't complain. Success!!

The rest of the time was spent hanging out on the side of the pool drinking sangria and watching the belly-flop contest or the dive-for-coins game. Henry and I will do the belly-flop contest next year!

Around 5 we went home to rest and gear up for the pot-luck Bar-B-Que. You won't see any pictures because HRH sacked out by 6 after a walk to the swings. We passed out by 9. I think I remember hearing some fireworks in the distance.

We woke up bright and early Saturday after Henry had a full night of sleep (bonus!). I had exercise and a few massages while Henry and Billy played. We then went to Alexandria and ran into some friends (and a new friend for Henry) at Christ Church. Here's Henry and Jacob getting acquainted as well as the three of us in the beautiful yard at Christ Church. Thank you Jeanie, our photog-extraordinaire!
An early start Sunday as well so we went to the farmer's market before church. Here's Henry with the bounty and soon-to-be Henry Food!
Sunday afternoon we went to Santiago's birthday party. Lots of big kids and little ones too. Henry was right in there with the big kids on the water slide. There's daddy finishing off the sangria.

And last, here's a picture of Henry showing off his latest design from Aunt Pam. Compliments of Clyde's. He's also showing off his sitting and pulling up (escaping) skills. Perhaps it's time to lower the mattress!

When I wrote the title of this entry I had to laugh as only a few years ago (or, like 5.5 months ago), the ultimate party weekend would have meant something entirely different. Who would have thought that these days are really the ultimate for us. We savor every minute with our beautiful, busy little guy! Amazing what a few years can do to change priorities.

Until next time everyone, we continue the birthday party circuit with Brady's on Saturday! Hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend. Peace!
