Snow Outside, Toddler in the House...

...or why not to go to bed with a wet head... So the next few posts are going to be a little flip-flopped. I wanted to get the Snowmaggedon, SnObama, Blizzard 2010, SnOMG; it's snowing again pictures from today posted. So I will post our Rhode Island trip pictures later.
We arrived back from RI to this...

Well, not exactly. There was no path, or driveway for that matter. And, oh, it was getting dark. When we arrived home we found that the shovel we put near the front door (knowing that we would need to shovel when we got home) was missing. In order to get the car off the driveway, we started shoveling with spades. I plopped Henry in front of (horrors!) Thomas DVDs. On my way out from checking on him, two of our neighbors were helping Billy to create a space in the driveway for the car. They also helped us carry in stuff from the car, AND they kept shoveling after we went inside. That's the nice path you see from the front door to the car. I know, our house just went up in value big time.
So I will get back to that first night back as well as the Rhode Island trip later.

For now,
"Good mornin"!"

This is before the big stuff hit.

Okay, now on to the impetus for the title of this post. Two feet of snow outside, 20-35 MPH winds, no school, no daycare. What to do, what to do?? Well, my mom was home taking care of us for many years and, if I remember correctly, she was pretty home makery with her home-made play-dough, great meals with all the colors included and crafty things like candles, sewing and ceramics. And there were 4 of us, all under the age of 7! And, we lived in Siberia/Michigan for awhile so, no doubt we were home-bound every so often. I thought, I can do this. How hard can it be? (stop chuckling, mom).

So I ordered this great step stool that Henry can stand in while we bake so that I can turn my back for a few seconds without fearing that he would fly off the chair and impale himself on a knife or something (it could happen). I know the mere mention of me, 'turning my back for a few seconds' elicits a few chuckles from the more experienced moms, but we live and learn.

So here is me with the shop-vac about 2 minutes after I handed Henry the bag of flour to open. Yes that does sound a little crazy now but it was a sealed bag and he was screaming for it. I just wanted to keep him busy for a few seconds (A FEW SECONDS) while I gathered the rest of the ingredients.

Heh, heh, heh. NO, I WOULDN'T! (Not enough suction).
JUST KIDDING!!!
By the time we cleaned up that mess and positioned ourselves back on the stool, Henry spotted the honey. He loves the bear container and said, "bear wanna' take a bath?" Because he was inhaling the chocolate chips at warp speed, I thought I would hand him the bear with a mixing bowl and a little water for him to give bear a bath and to keep him busy.

"Henry please don't...

"...drink that."
Okay, next! Snow storm and 30 MPH winds, here we come. Billy wasn't thrilled with the idea and quite frankly neither was Henry but as I said to Billy...well let's just say that I can't remember the exact words and leave it at that. It was something like, "OUT!"

After finally wrestling Henry into his snowsuit (and my ears are still ringing from the screeching) we ventured out. He actually liked it, eventually but only wanted to walk through the deep stuff.

He IS smiling...seriously.

Back in from the snow.
Cookies, round 2:

Gearing up for nap time. "Look Mommy, bicycles" (icicles). Okay, I'll give him that, it was cute.
At that point, the snow really began to fall. Here are some pics.

Snowed/Iced in...

Ouch!
Yesterday...
Today...

That's all for now. Stay warm!
