Opposites Attract...NOT

True story. I was sitting here updating the blog. Henry was sleeping but it was getting to the point where he should be starting to wake up (still the 3 hour napper-thank you!) I started to hear him rummaging around so I thought I would stay in the office and wait to see what he did. After a few minutes I hear his door open so I peeked around the corner and saw him standing at the top of the stairs with a pair of shorts, a tee shirt and a new ("fresh) diaper. He stood there for a while then I said, "hello there". He then came into the office, proceeded to hand me the items and said, "Here Mommy, got poop in my diaper, need a fresh one." OMG he is growing up way too fast! Not only that, he added, "See, they match, green and green." He was talking about the shirt and shorts. He has started to pick out his own clothes which is fine with me...as long as they match. I've been teaching him what goes together-I know, coming from someone who wore uniforms for 12 years; pretty comical. I just think it's funny that he knows what "tacky" means. Yea, Mom!
So, back to life in general. In the interest of sanity (see previous entry), we have been living up to the "keep busy" mantra.
Still, there is a lot of chill-out time with his trains, which he still loves, and thank goodness -those suckers cost a lot of money! Went bowling with the Haworth Clan minus Charlie who Henry insisted was there when asked about later.
Yes, they had bowling shoes in his size. I saw this as growing opportunity for me. I did not feel the need to scrub his feet with anti-bacterial gel or give him a tetanus shot after wearing the shoes. But how cute, really?
They had a metal ramp thingy that he would put the bowling ball on and push and zip it would go down the lane. The also had the gates up so no gutter balls.
He grew tired of the ramp and wanted to push (eventually graduating to throw...) the ball himself.
So fun!
Meanwhile, Karen and I were able to relax and hang (in between running to take pictures).
All done!
Shoes off!
Then we went to Lebanese Taverana for Kid Morning.
This is Groovy Nate.
We discovered this super cool park about 20 minutes away. Kind of a drive but huge and so many things to do!

Climbing wall. This is where he got his first chin bruise.
Maze
The entire ground of this place is that recycled spongy stuff!
He's "...flying to Florida".
And, of course they had a carousel!

Then off to the big city! Museum of Natural History.

I like the expression on Henry's face better than the bear's.
And this is our nation's capitol.
Can you hear it?
"Okay Henry, turn around and smile! We're having fun aren't we?" I am certain I saw him roll his eyes? Paranoid? I'm not so sure...
Ha ha, Henry has a pencil growing out of his head!! Tee-hee, two can play at this game!

And guess what? A carousel!!

We topped off the day with chocolate ice cream at Daddy's restaurant.

By the way we didn't do all this in one day!
Things have been getting a bit better with regard to his two-isms. I am sticking to my guns as far as "time out" which he really responds well to. He really is an exceptional boy. I have found that I can reason with him. I just have to have a lot of time for him to process and eventually he comes around. I really do believe that he is quite bright and extremely verbal which is a blessing and sometimes a curse. So with that, you'll be happy to know that he has mastered opposites.
I think this may have been brought on by his new favorite book, Go Dog Go.
Here is a snippet of some of our most recent dialogues:
M: "Henry please get off the counter... "
H: "No Mommy, I need to be on the counter"
M: "Henry, take your shoes off please."
H: "I want my shoes on"
M: "Henry come inside"
H: "No, I'm staying outside"
M: "Henry, eat that big piece of chicken there"
H: "I'm eating the small chicken"
M: "Time to get out of the tub and get dry"
H: "No, I want to be wet"
And so on and so on and so on....
