We borrowed it from the library. The little kid is afraid to go to the big bed because it is portrayed as a monster. The illustrator actually drew a bed that looked like a monster. With teeth!
Thank goodness I have a genius as a son who saw that it was pretty ridiculous and wasn't freaked out by it. Luckily, in the mail a book from Nonnie arrived called Big Boy Bed!

Anyway, It's been a long time coming. I won't bore you with the details of my quest for the perfect bedding with the cuter than cute theme (I was thinking truck/trains, Billy wanted nautical). Nautical actually won out but since I refuse to spend a fortune on something that isn't perfect, we went with Ikea's finest.
So enough with the bedding, don't even get me started with the gate. Okay, I'll tell you; The double sided, drop-down hideaway gate bedrail came in a 26x10x6" box. That seemed a bit small to me. Memories of Paul and Elaine's Rubik's Cube/Exer-Saucer (see 5/18/08 post) came to mind. Well let me tell you, this made the Exer-Saucer look like a Tonka Toy. I think they figure that parents get better at these things as time goes on. Yeah, right. Long story short it only took me...well let's just say the thing is put together and he is slumbering away as I type.
